Hello and thanks for checking me out! My name is Ryan Leigh Moore. I am a 23 year old artist from metro Detroit and a college grad. I have been practicing art for about 2 years now but have always had the passion within. Art has been a huge part of my life ever since I was young. I loved going to art museums and I always had my head in an art book. Art can be a vessel in so many ways and I feel very motivated by that.
Currently, some of my favorite artists include Yoshitomo Nara and Keith Haring. I admire both of their styles and how fun their work is. I am also deeply inspired by many of the artists in my community, not only within traditional art but our musicians, photographers, fashion designers, DJs, filmmakers, writers…you name it honestly. There is a huge network of talent in this city and I feel blessed to be apart of the creatives here. My style is primarily inspired by the style of zines, comics and cartoons. While making things look semi-realistic is important to me when drawing, I don’t consider it my main focus and like to give myself room to play around with realism and redefine it in my own way. I consider writing as my second love outside of drawing, I love writing poetry and so that is a big part of my artistic style as well. Storytelling is a key factor to most my drawings. Even without words I like for some of my drawings to have a dialogue and plot to them that can be seen just by analyzing all that’s in the drawing. I like to depict human emotions and real life experiences and I'm heavily inspired by culture, I typically draw black figures & features as having this representation within my work consistently is very important to me. I am currently working on expanding my skillset and on trying new mediums outside of marker and pen, but admittedly those are my favorites to use at this time and I think they work best with the style that I’m going for. I am working on strengthening my painting skills so that I can do larger projects, such as murals, in the community someday and expose even more people to my artwork.
Outside of being an artist, I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Grand Valley State University and I am planning on starting graduate school in 2024 to obtain my master's in counseling. I find psychology so interesting because it exposes a fact that no one thinks exactly the same, we are all wired differently and process emotions differently and I’ve really enjoyed learning about all the wonders of the human mind. Once I have my degree in counseling and the experience, I am hoping to provide art therapy services to my community.
I appreciate you for checking out my art! Feel free to get in touch with me via the 'Contact' tab at the top.
Stay blessed!!!
